One of the Eaton Fire cruelties, for me, is the loss of my sketchbooks. I compiled them over 30 years. I don't mind that my diaries and journals burned as much as my sketchbooks. I had just started documenting the sketchbooks in videos and was posting parts of them to my instagram account.

I usually taped a post card from a show I had been to onto the front cover for inspiration. I believe that's the artist Cai Guo Qiang on the cover of the sketchbook in this picture. That sketchbook must have been from 2005-- there's a Whitney museum sticker with a May date from that year on the top left corner.
